About Me
Hello! I am Herdi Herdianurdin, an independent Solo Android Developer.
My initial goal in entering the Google Play Console ecosystem was a form of moral responsibility for the knowledge I have acquired: I wanted to build tools that are genuinely useful to myself and others. My primary focus is developing educational and productivity utility apps.
Development Philosophy
One of the works that best represents my philosophy is the Asmaul Husna Arti dan Makna app. This app was born out of my frustration with seeing so many similar apps on the store that were slow, bloated, and worst of all, stuffed with inappropriate ads that disrupt focus and reverence. I built it to be a fast, clean, and safe alternative.
Behind the Scenes Reality (Tech Stack)
My main weapon is Native Android with Kotlin. Although the current trend is shifting towards Jetpack Compose, I am still loyal to using the XML system for layouting. The reason is purely pragmatic: hardware limitations.
I started this journey with a Dell Latitude E5450 laptop (Core i5 Gen 5, 16GB RAM, running on Arch Linux), and I am currently using a Dell Latitude 5300 (Core i5 Gen 8, Windows 11). These specs are very reliable for coding, but not quite powerful enough to render Jetpack Compose comfortably. This taught me to maximize the tools right in front of me rather than waiting for the perfect setup.
For monetization, I rely on AdMob combined with Meta mediation. Outside the Native Android ecosystem, I also have a history of exploring React Native, Flutter, and Full-Stack web development using Laravel.
Background & Education
- Bachelor of Informatics Engineering at Putra Indonesia University (UPI) Cianjur (Graduated 2023, GPA 3.93). My thesis, Sequence and Series Calculator, which I also released on the Play Store, was a pragmatic project with one main focus: graduating quickly, safely, and without obstacles.
- Best Graduate - Certified Independent Study (SIB) Kampus Merdeka Batch 3 at Dicoding Indonesia (Android App Development, 2022).
- Best Graduate - Candradimuka Jabar Coding Camp Batch 1 (React Native, 2021).
Why Does This IT Journal Exist?
I built herdianurdin.my.id as a digital footprint. This is
a place where I share coding struggles, provide solutions so other developers don't have to bang their heads against the same bugs, and
serve as proof that I have created something. Moreover, writing forces
my brain to actively process information, rather than just being a
passive consumer.
The Human Side
When the laptop screen is closed, I am an introvert who enjoys alone time, though I also deeply appreciate moments spent with people who genuinely care. I enjoy anime, reading comics (Japanese & Korean), as well as self-improvement books and novels.
I have a huge interest in motorcycle modifications and electronics experiments. Currently, my favorite escape from coding is riding alone to enjoy natural scenery with my Honda Beat Karbu Gen 2, which I have modified in the engine, ignition, CDI, and CVT sectors to chase performance. Even though deep down I prefer injection engines, I adapt to the local mechanic ecosystem in my area, which is more capable of handling carburetors.
